- Partisan political organizations, committees, or candidates and public office holders
- Religious organizations in support of their sacramental or theological functions
- Labor unions
- Endowment or capital campaigns of national origin
- Organizations whose primary purpose is to influence legislation
- Testimonial dinners in general
- For-profit publications or organizations seeking advertisements or promotional support
- Individuals seeking self-advancement
- Foreign or non-U.S. based organizations
- Organizations whose mission is outside of the U.S.

Application Process
There is no grant application form. Requests must be submitted in writing and should include the following:
- A brief, written description of organization on official letterhead, including its legal name, history, activities, purpose, and proof of 501 c (3) status
- History of previous support from Sony
- Amount being requested
- Purpose for grant request
